We are currently seeking an Entry-level Inorganic Chemist with a federal laboratory partner in Lemont, IL.
SUMMARY We are seeking a recent graduate for the role of Entry-Level Inorganic Chemist to support projects related to the synthesis and processing of powdery materials for rechargeable batteries.
The ideal candidate should have a Bachelor's degree in Inorganic Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
This role involves hands-on lab experience, using a range of lab tools and equipment, and demands a basic understanding of chemical solution preparation.
The candidate will be responsible for meeting DOE-funded milestones, delivering daily reports, and maintaining a clean and organized lab environment.
TASKS.
The contractor shall:
Assist with projects focused on synthesizing and processing powdery materials for rechargeable batteries.
Participate in both conceptual and hands-on laboratory work, involving research, development, and operation of equipment at varying scales.
Handle large volumes of reactants and solid powder materials.
Prepare reactant solutions on a large scale (40L+).
Neutralize liquid waste using methods such as titration and pH measurement.
Use a variety of lab tools and equipment, including vacuum filtration, sieving, magnetic stirrers, pumps, ovens, and box furnaces.
Maintain a clean and organized lab, including organizing the chemical storage area.
Meet DOE-funded project milestones in a timely fashion.
Deliver daily reports and data to the Principal Investigators (PIs).
Adhere to computer protection programs and protocols.
REQUIREMENTS.
The contractor must have:
Recently graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Inorganic Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
0 to 1 year of hands-on experience in a basic chemistry lab.
Proficiency in using lab tools and equipment like vacuum filtration, pH measurement, and sieving.
A basic understanding of chemical solution preparation techniques.
Must be physically capable of lifting up to 25lbs.
A background in Inorganic Chemistry or Chemical Engineering.
