Cyber Security Analyst

The Risk and Infrastructure Science Center (RISC) researches, designs, and delivers scientific tools and methodologies to inform decision making regarding the most challenging security, risk, and resilience problems. Throughout the last two decades, RISC has completed major research efforts and developed unique tools to support local, state, and Federal sponsors in protecting the nation's critical infrastructure. RISC has developed unique research programs to protect the nation's cyber-based infrastructure systems; conduct all-source threat analysis; and support emergency preparedness, transportation security, and crisis management in U.S. communities.
We are seeking an experienced cyber security analyst to analyze and research information and computer systems with a focus on assessing and documenting the risks cyber systems pose when used to support critical infrastructure.
In this position, you will:
Leverage and employ advanced hardware and software tools used for analyzing, modeling, simulating, and assessing infrastructure, energy systems, and the environment
Participate in research activities including developing ideas, identifying publishing opportunities, and writing articles
Coordinate and collaborate with other RISC managers, initiating proposals and executing projects serving multiple sponsors across the broad spectrum of Global Security Sciences Division national security programs.
Position Requirements
To be considered you must have:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in a cyber-security related discipline and 0+years of experience
Expertise in analyzing computer networks and industrial control systems that support critical infrastructure
Comprehensive knowledge of cyber security, operating systems security, networking, workstations, and security aspects of the associated software
Strong understanding of regulations and cyber security best practices including the NIST Cyber security framework and NIST 800-53
Knowledge of software tools and their vulnerabilities, particularly those used in critical infrastructure
Analytical writing and presentation skills
Highly preferred skills:
Past experience in programming and scripting
Technical writing ability
The selected candidate will be placed at the appropriate level (RD1 or RD2) dependent upon depth and breadth of relevant knowledge and skills brought to the position, as well as the amount of relevant experience. The basic requirements of the various levels are as follows:
At a RD1 Level: Bachelor's or Master's Degree and 0
years of experience or equivalent
At a RD2 Level: Bachelor's and 5
years or Master's and 3
years of experience or equivalent
Successful applicants for this position must provide proof of U.S. citizenship, be able to successfully obtain a Q security clearance, and pass a drug test prior to employment as defined in 10 CFR 707.4.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
