Registered Dietician-PRN (As Needed) Behavioral Health

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining high standards of clinical nutrition programs.


  • Plans, evaluates and conducts nutrition intervention/education programs.

  • Plans well balanced meals in accordance with published nutritional standards.

  • Ensures compliance with regulating agency requirements.

  • Completes an assessment of all residents who have an identified dietary issue on the dietary screening within 24 hours of admission to the program. Completes dietary assessment on residents who do not have an identified dietary issue on the dietary screening within 72 hours of admission.

  • Documents dietary recommendations based on the assessment.

  • Monitors and documents resident?s compliance with nutritional recommendations.

  • Communicates resident?s individual nutritional needs and progress with the treatment team.

  • Ensures that residents have menu choices and assists residents with appropriate menu selections when necessary.

  • Ensures that the Food Service Department receives information on unusual food requests and/or preparation instructions.

  • Ensures that menus are updated regularly to be current with research relating to nutritional care.

  • Participates in the discharge planning process related to nutritional needs of the individual residents and documents in the aftercare plan.

  • Maintains current knowledge and implements nutritional care according to age and gender, and the cultural, spiritual, medical, and psychosocial needs/requirements of the resident.

  • Educates the resident?s family regarding their nutritional needs as indicated.

  • Provides for individual resident food preferences and for food preparation according to their ethnic background/customs.

  • Monitors resident?s weight, height, BMI, and development for each age group. Counsels and educates residents individually and in groups on appropriate diets, menu planning and preparation of food to treat an illness or disease and/or to enhance and maintain optimum health.

  • Acts in a consulting capacity for any nutrition-related activities in the food service department.

  • Consults with medical practitioners and other health professionals to manage the dietary and nutrition needs of patients.


SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE



  • Registered Dietitian or Must be registration eligible and successfully pass Commission on Dietetic Registration exam within the first?6 months of employment.

  • Experience in mental health, particularly with Eating Disorders and Substance Abuse strongly preferred.

  • Age/Dev., Cultural Awareness Training.

  • Infection Control.

  • Safety in-service.

  • Ongoing educational in-services.


 

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
