Patient Care Technician - Full Time Nights

?


PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES?



  • Demonstrates knowledge of and ensures compliance with Timberline Knolls? Clinical and Operating Procedures and Policies.


  • Demonstrates knowledge of eating disorders, chemical dependency and other DSM-IV-TR Diagnoses and???????? demonstrates competency in providing and implementing resident care.


  • Establishes collaborative working relationships with the multidisciplinary clinical team including psychiatrists,????? physicians, nurses, therapists, behavioral health specialists, dietitian, and expressive therapists and promotes teamwork.


  • Has knowledge of and ensures compliance with regulatory standards including DCFS for adolescent lodge, Joint?Commission, Mental Health Code and DHS Department of Alcohol and Substance Abuse.


  • Monitors and/or implements safe, quality health care in the following areas according to policy and procedure under?the direct supervision of the Charge Nurse.


  • Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills.


  • Administer basic personal hygiene


  • Assistant in patient mobility and transportation in and out of wheelchairs, beds and bathtubs if needed.


  • Accurately transcribes laboratory orders and collects specimens.


  • Filing reports and information into the resident charts in a timely manner.


  • Demonstrates competency in obtaining and documenting accurately vital signs


  • Reporting immediately any changes in physical or psychological status of resident.


  • Assists Charge Nurse in the admission process, discharge process and transfer to another facility by obtaining?? information on psychosocial, biophysical, self-care, educational and discharge planning components of the resident?s history and current status. Utilizes information obtained in the development of the resident?s treatment plan.


  • Adheres to standards of care surrounding regular medical, dental, and vision requirements and monitoring of weights? and heights of residents.


  • Collaborates with RN to ensure that all residents? immunizations and records are current.


  • Adheres to all required nursing documentation according to policies and procedures Clinical Notes, Medication?Teaching, Detoxification Protocols, Treatment Plans, etc.


  • Develops treatment plans based on identified problems and goals throughout stay.


  • Provides education to resident on medication, infection control, lab work, bio psychosocial health issues and their?individual educational needs.


  • Maintains a therapeutic relationship with the residents.




  • Coordinates the resident?s discharge planning and completes discharge aftercare plan.


  • Collaborates via shift reports, throughout the shift and participates in multidisciplinary treatment planning sessions to address resident needs.


  • Demonstrates understanding of the therapeutic milieu in providing a structured environment that promotes learning?? situations. Recognizes and resets priorities to manage the milieu.


  • Follows all procedures related to the exposure control plan and supervises and provides education in the infection control program.


  • Maintains resident safety by appropriate implementation of safety procedures and precautions.


  • Recognizes precursors of potential crisis and/or acting out behaviors of residents and intervenes in the early stages of escalation. Adheres to all standards of crisis management, safety and restraint and seclusion policies and procedures.


  • Assumes the role of resident advocate according to guidelines in the Resident Rights, Confidentiality Act and Resident Grievance policy. Addresses any ethical issues.


  • Communicates effectively with multidisciplinary treatment team, residents and significant others.?



SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES?



  • Recognizes and sets priorities and uses organizational skills to complete all work within the assigned shift.


  • Assumes responsibility for own continuing education. Attends classes/workshops to enrich personal knowledge,?growth and skill, and meets requirements of competency based educational program.


  • Participates in improving performance and utilizes data from quality improvement activities and input from staff to?continually improve quality of care.


  • Participates in the training of milieu staff.


  • Keeps Charge RN informed of reportable situations and lodge needs.


  • Notifies Nursing Coordinator and/or Lead Nursing when staffing issues arise. Takes action to make necessary???? adjustments to staffing to meet the defined needs of residents.




  • Performs other work related duties as assigned.?



KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS??????????????????????????????????????????????????????



  • Patient Care Technician certificate (Certified Nursing Assistant in the State of Illinois)


  • Psychiatric experience preferred


  • Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing


  • Current certification in health care provider CPR


  • Certification in Resident Management Intervention required


  • Required to frequently sit, stand, bend, stoop and walk, sometimes for extended periods.


  • Required to occasionally lift/move objects and/or resident weighing in excess of 40 lbs.


  • Must have visual, hearing, and learning capabilities sufficient to perform the essential functions defined above.


  • Work is performed in designated clinical and program settings.


  • Duties may involve contact with resident who may be threatening, aggressive and/or under the influence of drugs or alcohol.


  • Must be flexible in meeting program scheduling needs and available to work additional hours when necessary.



 

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
